Pepper spray, or OC (oleoresin capsicum), is one of the most popular and effective tools for self-defense. Unfortunately, most people do not know how to properly use it. In this civilian course we teach you everything you need to know to effectively use your OC spray in a dangerous encounter. This includes handling, physical effects, laws and restrictions, methods of decontamination and other topics. You will be taught the fundamentals on how to engage an assailant, based on a combination of verbal commands and movement patterns.
This class is essential for anyone using pepper spray for self-defense or in need of personal protection, particularly those who tend to be targeted more than others (e.g. college women). Both men and women can benefit from this training session. With the completion of this course you will become more confident in your ability to protect yourself from imminent threats.
Although it is required for law enforcement and security professionals (to understand the effects under use of force), as a civilian you will NOT be sprayed in this course. You will receive inert sprays (water-based) for practice drills, which will be conducted during the last portion of the class.
